Starting July 2, NAV CANADA reintroduces CPDLC uplinks for eastbound oceanic route amendments issued by Gander Oceanic – ending the temporary voice-clearance procedure that had been in place since May 2025.
🔹 What changes: Route amendments will again be delivered as a standard CLEARED TO... VIA... CPDLC uplink instead of by voice, allowing direct FMS loading.
🔹 Why: The earlier switch to voice was a workaround for FMS route discontinuities found after Canada’s 2024 Oceanic Clearance Revision (OCR) rollout – that issue has now been fixed.
🔹 Reminder: Gander’s OCR procedure itself is unaffected. RCLs 60–90 min before the OEP remain for planning only; no oceanic clearance is issued.
